A perfect day for a picnic

It was so nice today in the 80's with a slight cool breeze. It was time for the summer clothes and a picnic. I want to enjoy the weather because this weekend is supposed to be cold and rainy:(

Update on the bird eggs....it looks as if one bird is trying to peck his way out. The second egg on the bottom in the middle appears to have a small hole, hard to see from the pic. However, I could see some little feathers inside. I am hoping all is going okay, and we will hear little chirping soon!

Spencer throws the winning Pass!

Spencer had his first football game this Saturday, and it was a lot of fun. He did really well, and his team even won the game! Spencer passed the ball, and another teamate caught it and they made a touch down! I was very proud of Spencer he did his best, and was a real asset to the team! Way to go! Here are a few pictures of the game, and the family over the weekend.

Spencer with his good friend Jake Hunsaker. The picture below is Spencer right after he threw the winning pass.

Family fun at the game, and so glad that Daddy could be with us!

Belle loves to pose for us in hats......Rose loves to get the hats off!

Nothing of Importance

Today my sister Janae asked me if I had blogged yet, I said no, and she asked why not? Well, because I couldn't think of anything momentous to blog about! Those words were just stuck in my head, and reminded me of Elizabeth Barclay. (one of our ancestors on mom's side). She was a pioneer that traveled by wagon from Pennsylvania to Kansas. We are so very lucky that she kept a journal! Often if she thought nothing great happened that day she would write, "nothing of importance". My mother and I have often wished that she had written whatever mundane thing happened, because to us it would have been fascinating! So here is my mundane day, and a few Easter pictures that I finally manged to down load!

Today was rather challenging to my nerves and mental health. I had been meaning to put some of Spencer's old clothes on ebay to sell. I have been procrastinating doing it for a while now, and said enough procrastinating. So while I tried to get that all done I had a young baby not at all happy with the lack of attention, and the toddler was even less enthused saying..."need ttention mama!" So that was rather challenging getting that done with the youngins under foot!

Spencer made a pathetic attempt at passing off a "book report", and had to go back and try to do better! (which he did)

Rose decided that the onions in the cupboard looked rather tasty, and had onion breath for most of the afternoon.

So basically in a nutshell that was our day.

On these challenging days I think it is important for me to remember my blessings. Like a husband who really loves me. That my children are healthy. That I am losing weight and getting healthier. That I have a great supportive extended family, and that I have a safe home to raise my children in. And last but not least, this nice hot mug of peppermint tea, sitting right in front of me.

A New Tennent at the Nicholson Home

These good parents are entrusting our home environment with their most precious offspring! How lucky we are, we are all very excited to see the little beings emerge from their very safe and warm bedroom when the time is right. The only down side is I am not sure when we will be able to use our BBQ again?!

KISS CARDIO GOODBYE!

Yes, it is true....just ask Jim Karas. He wrote Kiss cardio goodbye and lose weight. I saw a little segment on Good morning America this morning on this very book. Needless to say I have got to get the word out. Okay yes it does just sound like the newest fad! However, he really does make sense. He claims that if you want to change your body you have to increase muscle mass...and decrease calories. He says that heavy intense cardio like running ruins your joints causes injuries and MAKES YOU HUNGRY!!!!! He says to lose weight and change your body shape you must count and cut calories, and strength training three times a week for twenty minutes. I really think this is something I could do!!!! I think after all these of dieting (since about age 10)....that it does not matter whether you eat cake, vegetables, meat or carbs....if it is too many calories you will not lose weight. I for one am more than anxious to try this theory out!

http://abcnews.com (Click on Good Morning America, and is under As Seen on GMA Book) Okay I have been trying to find his book, but can't, I don't think it is out yet.

Just a few photos from the weekend. I love this tree, it turns this fushia color in Spring and fall. so pretty!

He must be growing up!

Okay what a weird day today was! Spencer is out this week for spring break. Yesterday morning I had to go to a doctor appointment, and on the way out Spencer mentioned he wanted to show me a picture on the computer of how he wants his room to be. Okay when has my son ever shown an interest in his room? I sat in the waiting room thinking about what was going on with him...he told me he wants a room makeover? Has he been watching HGTV behind my back? I learned that Spencer had been learning a new game that Lexi and Madi taught him, over Easter weekend at Mammy's house. He showed me his room on the computer, and this is what he wants for his birthday! He told me, I don't want any of those "little" toys that you usually get me mom. I said well the new wood floor might be a hard thing to manage right now, but the rug and star wars poster definitely we could manage! Then for the most expensive item...he says...a new desk and computer! The desk I can do....but a computer! Man when did this happen? I guess I started to see it coming at Christmas when he asked for money not toys....but then at the last minute he saw a toy that he wanted, I rushed out to the store...and was much relieved! But then this morning....I get home from the doctor and there is my sons room clean!!!! Wow, oh my gosh I thought I would keel over from the shock! Here he was with the vacuum in one hand and Allen moving his furniture around. This is almost too much for a mother to take in all at once! Here are the results......WOW!

Notice the very clean floor....I almost passed out....forgot what color the carpet was.

my cutie patooties

Rose is just growing so fast and being so cute. She has this one top tooth that is just hilarious. She is walking everywhere, just like a little chimpanzee with her arms up in the air. She has learned to shake her head back and forth, and today started to shake up and down. She looks like Jeanie from I dream of Jeanie when she does it because she blinks everytime she does it! She loves to eat dirt more than her food, and she has such a temper. I can never tell if she is hurt or mad because the cry is the same!

Spencer and I had a very rough morning. He forgot to get his antibiotic to take to his dads house and his homework. This is the second week in a row that he has forgotten
his homework. It wouldn't be so bad, but school is twenty minutes away in Salt Lake. However, he did manage to bring his books that he is reading for fun! I can't figure out why I am supposed to remember everything!

Belle had a hard time this afternoon. She became very upset watching the pbs show Noddy. Well, she kept screaming and crying that he was good. I could not convince her that naughty and noddy were different. She did have a good time picking the tulips in the back yard, so all was not lost.

Conversations with a two year old

"mommy, where are we?"

"We are on our street." 1 minute later.....

"mommy, where are we?"

"We are in our driveway going into the garage" 30 seconds later....

"mommy, where are we?"

"We'll sweetie we are in crazy land."

LATER ON IN THE DAY:

"i want a show"

"Okay, what would you like Ariel or Pongo?"

"pongo. No, i say yes to Ariel."

"Okay, lets put it on"......mom puts movie in, 5 minutes later....

"i not like it....say yes to pongo."

"Okay, it's pongo then" mom gets the movie in and pushes the remote to play... then,

"no, pooh bear"

under my breath..."okay whatever".

Lunchtime:

"mommie lunchtime?"

"Yes it is, would you like a peanut butter sandwich or cheese sandwich?"

"mmmmm, peanut butter. YUM YUM"

"Okay that sounds great!" mom gets her the peanut butter sandwich, carrots and some milk. Then mom makes her lunch, an omelet, because she has to have protein on her special diet. Mom sits down to a nice, relaxing lunch with her daughter, thinking she is lucky that the baby is still asleep.

"I don't like it, I'll have yours mommy"

SIGH ..."Okay lets share".

Here's to you my baby girl....thanks for all the laughs!

Saturday at the Zoo

Saturday was the Hogle Zoo day in Salt Lake City, Utah. We left fairly early in the morning, and it was quite chilly. However soon the warm sun came out, and we were shedding our sweaters and jackets. Spencer and Belle threw pennies and wishes in the fountain while Allen got our tickets.

Belle and Spencer really enjoyed the tropical bird exhibit, and especially the spoon billed flamingo...(I think that is what it was) It was beautiful, bright orange pink feathers, and they could fly, so several of them were in the trees.

I caught this fun picture of Belle when we stopped to rest by a wooden fence.

Rose was a really good baby, and never complained until the very end of our time at the zoo, and then she slept the whole way home!

This is Belle watching a cute furry rabbit, I loved this shot because I could see her reflection in the window.

When Rose didn't want to be in the stroller, Spencer was more than eager to hold Rose and show her all the animals.

When Spencer saw this he didn't think that it was that big, he said, "Oh I bet my arms are as long as the gorrillas", not quite sweety!

The whole time at the zoo Belle was wanting and begging to go on the train, then when we got on, she was scared to death. Even daddy could not convince her that she would not fall out!

This picture cracked me up.....(not because I cut off the top of Allens head), but the way they are standing! I don't think they did this on purpose. I think the peacock was Belles favorite animal.
