Okay what a weird day today was! Spencer is out this week for spring break. Yesterday morning I had to go to a doctor appointment, and on the way out Spencer mentioned he wanted to show me a picture on the computer of how he wants his room to be. Okay when has my son ever shown an interest in his room? I sat in the waiting room thinking about what was going on with him...he told me he wants a room makeover? Has he been watching HGTV behind my back? I learned that Spencer had been learning a new game that Lexi and Madi taught him, over Easter weekend at Mammy's house. He showed me his room on the computer, and this is what he wants for his birthday! He told me, I don't want any of those "little" toys that you usually get me mom. I said well the new wood floor might be a hard thing to manage right now, but the rug and star wars poster definitely we could manage! Then for the most expensive item...he says...a new desk and computer! The desk I can do....but a computer! Man when did this happen? I guess I started to see it coming at Christmas when he asked for money not toys....but then at the last minute he saw a toy that he wanted, I rushed out to the store...and was much relieved! But then this morning....I get home from the doctor and there is my sons room clean!!!! Wow, oh my gosh I thought I would keel over from the shock! Here he was with the vacuum in one hand and Allen moving his furniture around. This is almost too much for a mother to take in all at once! Here are the results......WOW!
Notice the very clean floor....I almost passed out....forgot what color the carpet was.

It does seem to happen overnight, one minute they're little kids playing with little toys and the next minute they're young adults wanting expensive "toys". It's scary sometimes! My kid's rooms are always a mess. I don't know what the secret is to keeping them clean!
Wow, That room looks great!
I've noticed that my oldest is growing up as well (sigh). She is interested in more grown up things these days. It's neat and sad at the same time.
now, you're not blaming ME 4 this all right?? JK
D - Do you remember what your room looked like when you were 10? I know you remember the book the "Big Tidy Up!"
Yes I admit fully that mushrooms were probably growing in my floor, but I would have never seen them due to the many layers! I loved that book the big tidy up....I actually got it from the library once and read it to Spencer!
......and no Lexi I am not blaming you....I should be thanking you!!!!
I don't know about mushrooms, but didn't some mice take up residency in your closet under the layers of dirty clothes - or was that Mike's room? I do remember lots of apple cores & old bowls & spoons from ice cream & pudding.
LaRae, you forgot the candy wrappers, from the school money drive thingee and all the hostess wrappers under my bed! No, I wasn't the one with the mice problem, I just stepped on a dead one on my way to the bathroom in the dark of the early morning!
This is a great side effect of growing up. This grow up side effect has not happened at my house yet!
