time to kill

Okay it is amazing that I actually have a little free time. Yes, I should be reading my scriptures, or cleaning the house, or painting. I think I just need a little free time, me time. Whoa, me time what is that???? Anyway I saw this really cool car seat on nickelodeon channel, it folds up and you can carry it! It is supposed to be the safest one ever etc. (at least that is their claim). So excitedly I write down the internet address so I can look it up. safeguardgo.com Well, to my shock and horror......the price was astronomical...... 449.00$!!!! Holy moly.....why in the world would I spend 449.00$ for anything for my kid that they are going to grow out of. I don't know it just really bothered me. It can't possibly be worth that much....(with tax and shipping I am sure it would come out to be around 500.00$) I just don't know what these people are thinking....I think it is a big ole rip off if you ask me. I am actually really mad...just because we are parents, and we want our children safe, and the lure of the "safest car seat ever" sent me to their web site....well I am just completely offended they would think I would be stupid enough to even consider a car seat that cost more money than anything I own except for my car and home! Geezzzzzzzz

Hi Dawnae, thanks for your visit! Its a shame that manufacturers do this sort of thing, Im sure they do mark things way way up counting on people wanting safety for thier child. They ought to be ashamed!

I am glad you are still around:) Everyones out to make a buck...it's really too bad they want to use our children in order for us to feel guilty and spend the money so "we have the safest car seat ever" to think 34 years ago there were no carseats...hmmm no wonder our parents had less debt than us. In general just less stuff to have to buy:)

So, i hear you on the carseat thing. I feel the same way about my cable. I pay a rediculous amount every month for my cable. I called to see if I can just downgrade to "basic" and they tell me that its stations 2-17 and it still is costing me like $35, for those 15 stations... that's not right. I get so mad about it, yet cant bring myself to cancel... what would I do without sprout and noggin? the horrors!

Speaking as a mechanical engineering dropout, I doubt any carseat that folds up could be stronger than any rigid seat ever. They are full of baloney!

If it's really the safest thing ever why don't they make it the most affordable thing ever? That way we could ALL afford to keep our kids safe.

I couldn't have said it better than Melanie.
That is terrible! I'd say it was a BIG RIP OFF!
Your'e not alone, I wouldn't pay that amount either.

ads like this play on our fears - fear of a car accident and not having our children in "the safest seat ever.." This is how advertising works or in your case, dose NOT work....for the advertisors in this case...

It's a wonder we all made it to adulthood, and we didn't ride in any car seat, let alone the safest one ever.

I have a question for you, what would you spend $500 on for your kids?

So - this may or may not surprise you, and I don't know if I should really admit it, but . . .

I have a safeguardgo carseat tethered in my little Yukon right at this very moment for Ms. Lacey Grace! It's not the $449 model, but was probably half that - to me, it was worth the price - but that's me.

Lets see, LaRae I can't believe that you found a model for that cheap! I only saw two models, and the cheapest one was the 495.00, but as soon as I saw that I left. I do know why you got it, and for a couple hundered, I would have thought it was worth that. But I am really glad that your kids are so safe in the car. :)

Thanks doug for your professional opinion, that made me feel better.

Lets see Micalanne asked me wha would I spend 500.00$ for my kids. Anything relating to a talent or education I think...(if I could afford it). I guess a medical issue. I don't think there is anything else I would spend that much on.
