Update on Birds in BBQ

Well, I have figured out that the birds who build a nest in our bbq are black birds, just like the one below. This is a male because he is so black, the female is dark brown. It is very interesting because these birds have stayed together, the male looks out for his wife who is laying on the eggs....when not out hunting. If we get close to the bbq and she is inside, he makes a very loud squawking sound to warn her. They first laid eggs back in April. Those birds hatched, and are now on their merry way. They have now laid a new batch of eggs, and they are hatching. I even got a picture of the newborn baby, (mommy bird sure was not happy about that!) I am not going to post that picture yet, you will have to tune in tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday. Anyway I felt really bad about disturbing them, both birds were really upset, so I set out some blueberries for her. I sure hope that will make up for my obvious blunder into their little world!

I am so glad you figured out what kind of birds they are! You just have your own little bird family going on. I am sure they will recover from the picture shoot :)

Birds are so protective of their babie! My parents have a nest somewhere in their backyard and every time my dad goes in to his garden, the 'daddy' bird dives at him and his dog...it is pretty funny, but at the same time, he is a bit worried that the bird will nail him! I will be excited to see the picture tomorrow....

I have been wondering about the eggs! That was nice that you offered a "peace offering" to the mama. Hopefully she accepted it!
